Death Grips: Niggas on the Moon Review

Released: 2014

Genres: Experimental Hip-Hop, Glitch Hop, Industrial Hip-Hop

The Musiquarium’s Niggas on the Moon Review Score: 8 out of 10

Every song on Niggas on the Moon is built around chopped-up samples of experimental Icelandic singer Björk, which gives this album a unique and interesting sound, even by Death Grips’ standards. Considering Björk’s knack for experimentation and her impact on electronic music, lending her voice to a group like Death Grips makes complete and perfect sense.

Niggas on the Moon might not be as (relatively) straightforward as Exmilitary or The Money Store, but it’s experimental nature works better than that of Government Plates, with the band still pushing their boundaries into the unknown with successful results.
